Pricing an online course is one of the decisions new creators get most wrong (usually by charging too little, not too much).
I’ve spent over 20 years working with course creators across every niche, and the same pattern shows up constantly: the price you choose signals the value of what you’re selling before anyone reads a word of your sales page. Undercharge and people assume it’s not serious.
Overcharge without the authority to back it up and they hesitate.
To help you find the right price range for your course, I’ve developed this online course pricing calculator based on the most critical factors that actually determine the value of a course.
Just answer a few questions and get a realistic price tag for your course.
What this online course pricing calculator does
Most pricing calculators give you a formula dressed up as a tool. This one starts from real market anchors — what comparable courses in your category sell for — then adjusts based on the factors that genuinely move the needle: the outcome you’re promising, your delivery format, your current authority, and how deep your course goes.
The enrollment timing note at the bottom of your result is worth paying attention to. Scarcity is one of the most underused pricing levers in the course business. A self-paced course that’s always open has less of it. A twice-yearly cohort has a lot. That difference is worth 20–30% in price.
What this pricing calculator won’t tell you
No tool can factor in your specific audience’s willingness to pay, how good your sales page is, or whether your course actually delivers what it promises. Those things matter enormously — and they’re the difference between a price that works on paper and one that works in practice.
If you’ve run the numbers and want a second opinion on your positioning, I’m happy to take a look.
